•  Mural Design - Africa Reimagined  •
For this brief we were put into groups of two and needed to design a mural for a section of the hallways at Stellenzicht High School. The mural had to be based on the concept of Africa Reimagined, serving to inspire and empower ones African identity and place on the continent.

•  Final Concept Statement  •
The mural for Stellenzicht secondary school is a vibrant and dynamic celebration of the schools sports achievements through the theme of Africa Reimagined.

The artwork captures the spirit of competition, unity, and pride. This accurately reflects the schools history of success and its aspiration for even greater accomplishments. We used a bright and visually dominant yellow to successfully symbolize victory, energy, and optimism throughout the final design. The peach background is visually striking, yet not overpowering, making it the perfect canvas to illustrate our characters on the wall. The arms holding up the trophy further shows that unity and teamwork are the keys to success. The use of the African continent as the shape of the statue represents our pride in African ancestry and the school’s position in the greater African context. Additionally, the sports figures portray the commitment, careful planning, and various skills possessed by the schools athletes. We chose to use stars and zig zags as holding elements for the two opposing walls, as stars are icons for growth, accomplishments, and dreams.
